Frequently Asked Questions About
UV-Free Custom Sprays

Do I need to make an appointment for a spray tan?

Yes. Because Max Tan offers Custom Spray Tan service by trained spray technicians you will need an appointment for your spray tan. Custom Spray tans ensure the appropriate amount of solution to enhance and highlight certain areas of the body. As a result you don't have to worry about streaky, messy, unnatural color from a spray both.

How many times do I need to be sprayed?

Once. We can go as light or dark as you'd like in one application.

How long does it take to get sprayed?

Twenty minutes. If it is your first time being sprayed at Max Tan we have a brief form for you to fill out so we do recommend arriving a few minutes before your appointment to do that.

Will I look orange?

No. Max Tan uses a special solution EXCLUSIVE to Max Tan in the Midwest. The oil-free solution delivers walnut-toned bronzers complete with advanced DHA technology to customize your color.

What do I need to do to prepare for my spray tan?

Pedicures, manicures and waxes should be done PRIOR to your Custom Spray appointment. The day of your appointment you should shower, shave and exfoliate. Avoid applying lotion (because lotion will act as a barrier against the solution), for at least 5 hours prior to your appointment. Wash off makeup and deodorant before your appointment.

What should I wear to my appointment?

What you wear while being sprayed is your personal preference. Men are required to wear bottoms. Be sure that any clothing you do wear is cotton and/or dark colored. Please bring loose-fitted dark cotton clothes and flip-flops to leave in.

How long do I need to wait after my appointment before showering?

You should wait at least six hours to shower. During this time you also want to avoid sweating, dishes, crying, showering or anything that will put you in contact with water.

Will the solution rub off on my clothes?

The cosmetic bronzer can rub off on clothing and linens but will wash out of cotton. When you shower the first time after your spray, the cosmetic bronzer washes off leaving your long-term color that will not rub off on clothing and linens.

How long will my spray tan last?

Spray tans typically last a week, depending on how you care for it. Extending products available at all Max Tan locations will ensure your color fades evenly and may even extend your color for up to 10 days. Avoiding astringents, exfoliating scrubs, etc... after being sprayed will also ensure the best results.

I am being sprayed for vacation. Does my Custom Spray tan offer me UV protection?

No. Your spray tan is purely cosmetic and will not offer you UV protection. You will still need to apply SPF on your vacation.
